Saul Menor owns a 4ha farm in the San Francisco village in Huabal district, close to the city of Jaen. Saul is a first generation coffee farmer, who is originally from Cajamarca and comes from a potato farming family, but at a young age moved to Jaen to buy land with his savings and to plant coffee. Since then Saul has been producing a relatively large, at least by the standards in the area, volume of coffee, but in recent years has put much more emphasis on growing quality coffee and improving his cup score. Saul grows almost entirely caturra variety at high altitudes, this caturra is recognisable for its small size and the high density of the bean, but has recently been planting Geisha and Marshel (a Peruvian variety) which have come into production for the first time in 2024.
