Pitaya coffee comes from farms situated in the municipality of Palestina in southern Huila.
The Huila department is widely recognized both in Colombia and internationally as the country’s largest coffee producer by volume, while also being known for cultivating a significant amount of specialty-grade coffee, typically grown on small farms averaging 3-4 hectares.
18 lots from 12 producers make up that blend. All lots have been carefully selected amongst dozens to comply with the Pitaya profile.
Two producers make up 68% of the blend:
> Alirio Aguilera, the 2013 #1 COE winner with a washed caturra and a dedicated coffee grower in Palestina ever since.
> Hugo Verdugo, who after the bankrupcy of his previous caturra farm because of rust went on planting 4 hectares of pink bourbon and now runs a profitable coffee business.
